About Bomar Auto Repair
Located at 3410 W 26th St, Erie, PA 16506, Bomar Auto Repair operates as a brake shop serving Erie in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Brake, transmission, exhaust and glass work is often done by specialty shops that see the same job dozens of times a week. Brake shops replace pads and rotors the same day and usually inspect for free; transmission shops rebuild or replace automatics and clutches, a multi-day job that deserves a second quote; muffler and exhaust shops weld custom pipes and replace catalytic converters, which in many states must meet emissions rules. Alignment and suspension shops fix pulling, uneven tire wear and worn shocks, and radiator shops handle overheating and cooling-system leaks. Auto glass shops replace windshields, often at your home or office, and recalibrate the driver-assistance cameras mounted behind the glass. Window tinting and car audio shops round out the group.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 8 amβ5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Erie is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Erie is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I brought my car to Bomar Auto Repair to fix a rear brake caliper. They said everything was fine. Two months later, my brakes failed on the highway, and I had to get towed to Firestone in Ohio. Firestone found that the caliper Bomar installed had come loose, causing a major brake fluid leak and over $1,000 in repairs. When I spoke with Bomar, they admitted fault but wouldnβt fully cover the costs. I missed work, had to pay for a hotel, and was lucky no one got hurt. I trusted them to fix my brakes safely, but that trust was broken. I canβt recommend them if you want safe, reliable repairs and accountability, go somewhere else.

This place overcharges, does shotty work, and now is hiding from me. I just want receipts for a couple thousand dollars of work I had done by them, and they wonβt answer the phone, return voicemails, or answer the door. I tried about a year ago but gave up, and now that I sold the car I want those people to have the receipts for inspection. I looked in the windows while calling and heard the phone ringing and saw the guy trying to hide with the doors locked. How is this place in business?!

Completely ripped me off on an exhaust replacement. He charged me $3000. Come to find out, nothing was welded, he clamped the entire exhaust front to back. Three years later and I am replacing all the work he did, because my exhaust started falling apart. To purchase the part myself would have been $1300. So i was charged $1700 in labor for a clamp job that didn't last 4 years. I feel taken advantage of, since I have zero knowledge on car repair and didn't know the right questions to ask. I trusted that Mark was honest and was not performing shoddy work at inflated pricing. Women take your car elsewhere.

Very dissatisfied. I needed to know everything that my car needed to become legal for inspection. I needed all the right info to make an informed decision. I was clear about these expectations and needs. I was given a "free estimate" on what needed done, body work needed was outsourced to another shop unrelated to this one. After getting the repairs recommended and spending thousands, I was shocked to be told my car still wasn't legal! I'm sure it wasn't done maliciously but I'm also sure it wasted my time and money and my car still isn't legal. Had I been given all the info I asked for to begin with I might not feel so put out. And to not even receive an apology, but a shamey reply of, "we gotta consider safety." I'm not denying that at all, but your "professional advice" was nonetheless wrong and cost me money I couldn't waste. Women beware! It's 2023 and we still can't get our cars serviced honestly. Free estimates are only valuable if the professional takes it seriously and gives accurate information. Despicable and unprofessional. 0 stars.

Great service! My daughter goes to school in Erie and needed some car repairs. Not knowing where to send her I did some research online and found Bomar had some good reviews. The good reviews were spot on. Mark kept in touch with me and I was really happy with the service. I highly recommend Bomar.
